See Spot Stop - running away, and chasing cars! Best of all, your dog can run and play throughout your entire yard without being tethered (and tangled). The DogWatch® Hidden Fence System is a proven way to keep your dog on your property 24 hours a day. It's been thoroughly tested for safety, and veterinarians throughout the U.S. use DogWatch® to protect their pets and recommend it to their clients. The system works with all breeds five months or older. It's effective after just a few simple training sessions, and there's no limit to the number of dogs a system can watch. Unlike a wooden or chain link fence, your dog can't jump over or dig under it. And a DogWatch® Hidden Fence can cost substantially less than traditional fencing.
A complete self-install system kit includes a transmitter with an AC adapter (plugs into a standard household outlet); one receiver/collar (please select either the R-7 or R-8 in the correct size for your dog); a bundle of 100 perimeter training flags; a lightening surge protector; an owners' manual and training booklet. You can order perimeter wire and additional receiver/collars separately. If you have any questions or require assistance prior to ordering, please contact our customer service department at 1-800-PET GIFT (1-800-738-4438), Monday thru Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. eastern time.
Note: To ensure that you receive the correct size collar for your pet(s), please be sure to measure the circumference of the middle of your pet's neck. The collar strap size selected should be in the adjustable range provided. For additional information about the R7 and R8 receivers please refer to the descriptive information provided for each receiver.

How it works:
The System keeps an eye on your dog by transmitting a coded radio signal through a boundary wire installed around your yard at ground level or just below. This harmless signal is picked up by a lightweight, waterproof receiver collar tuned only to the signal from the boundary wire. If your dog gets within 5 to 10 feet of the wire, (the range is adjustable), an audible warning from the collar reminds your dog not to cross the boundary. If the warning is ignored - rare after training - the collar emits a mild stimulation that you can easily adjust.
Escape/avoidance conditioning is the principle involved in teaching your dog to respond to the DogWatch Hidden Fence System. Escape training simply means that a particular response terminates an unpleasant feeling. An example of this is when a dog runs into his doghouse to escape the rain of a thunderstorm.
Avoidance training is merely an extension of escape training. What happens to the dog that ran into his doghouse? After several storms he learns to avoid, rather than escape the rain. As soon as hears the thunder, he runs into his doghouse and never gets wet.
Think of your property having two distinct zones:
1) Safety zone: The area where your dog is free to play.
2) Avoidance zone: The signal field created by the boundary wire.
When your dog crosses into the signal field, the receiver collar emits an audible warning followed by stimulation. The audible warning is the CUE, and the stimulation is the AVERSIVE. The objective of the training is to teach your dog to respond to the cue by retreating to the Safety Zone. When your dog is thoroughly trained, he will remain inside his Safety Zone.
